An estimate, not tax advice. It applies the salaried-individual table, which is for people whose salary is at least 75% of taxable income, and it leaves out other income, tax credits, rebates and other taxes. Source for 2026-27: FBR Circular No. 02 of 2026-27, 8 September 2026.
For the 2026-27 tax year (July 2026 to June 2027), a salaried person in Pakistan pays no income tax on the first Rs 600,000 of taxable income, and the top rate of 35% starts above Rs 7,000,000. The calculator above applies the Federal Board of Revenue's slabs for four tax years, so you can see what a salary costs now and what it cost in earlier years.
Tax on a monthly salary, year by year
A taxable salary is the pay that counts for tax after exempt allowances. The table applies each year's slabs to four monthly salaries. Each figure is one-twelfth of the annual tax, and any surcharge is included.
| Monthly taxable salary | Tax per month, 2026-27 | Tax per month, 2025-26 | Tax per month, 2024-25 | Tax per month, 2023-24 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rs 100,000 | Rs 500 | Rs 500 | Rs 2,500 | Rs 1,250 |
| Rs 150,000 | Rs 6,000 | Rs 6,000 | Rs 10,000 | Rs 7,500 |
| Rs 300,000 | Rs 34,667 | Rs 38,833 | Rs 45,833 | Rs 36,250 |
| Rs 500,000 | Rs 92,000 | Rs 106,750 | Rs 113,750 | Rs 91,250 |
On a taxable salary of Rs 300,000 a month, the 2026-27 slabs give Rs 416,000 a year, or Rs 34,667 a month, an average rate of 11.56%. The same salary paid Rs 38,833 a month under the 2025-26 slabs.
Tax year 2027: slabs for July 2026 to June 2027
The Finance Act 2026 restructured the salaried slabs, added intermediate slabs and raised the point where the 35% rate starts from Rs 4,100,000 to Rs 7,000,000. The Federal Board of Revenue set out the table in its Circular No. 02 of 2026-27, dated 8 September 2026.
| Taxable income | Tax |
|---|---|
| Up to Rs 600,000 | No tax |
| Rs 600,001 to Rs 1,200,000 | 1% of the amount above Rs 600,000 |

| Rs 2,200,001 to Rs 3,200,000 | Rs 116,000 plus 20% of the amount above Rs 2,200,000 |

| Above Rs 7,000,000 | Rs 1,424,000 plus 35% of the amount above Rs 7,000,000 |
The same circular says the 9% surcharge on salaried individuals earning above Rs 10 million has been withdrawn. The 10% surcharge on other individuals and associations of persons continues.
Tax year 2026: slabs for July 2025 to June 2026
The Finance Act 2025 set a six-slab table, with 35% above Rs 4,100,000. The FBR's Circular No. 01 of 2025-26 lists it.
| Taxable income | Tax |
|---|---|
| Up to Rs 600,000 | No tax |
| Rs 600,001 to Rs 1,200,000 | 1% of the amount above Rs 600,000 |
| Rs 1,200,001 to Rs 2,200,000 | Rs 6,000 plus 11% of the amount above Rs 1,200,000 |
| Rs 2,200,001 to Rs 3,200,000 | Rs 116,000 plus 23% of the amount above Rs 2,200,000 |

| Above Rs 4,100,000 | Rs 616,000 plus 35% of the amount above Rs 4,100,000 |
Under this year's rules, salaried individuals with taxable income above Rs 10 million paid a 9% surcharge on the income tax, according to the 2026 circular above. The calculator adds it for that year.
Tax year 2025: slabs for July 2024 to June 2025
The Finance Act 2024 raised the rates for salaried people compared with the year before and introduced a 10% surcharge on individuals with taxable income above Rs 10 million. The table below is taken from a chartered accountancy firm's summary of the Finance Act 2024; the FBR's own text for this year was not available to check.
| Taxable income | Tax |
|---|---|
| Up to Rs 600,000 | No tax |
| Rs 600,001 to Rs 1,200,000 | 5% of the amount above Rs 600,000 |

Tax year 2024: slabs for July 2023 to June 2024
The slabs below were reported when the amended Finance Bill 2023 passed in June 2023, for example by Business Recorder. They have no surcharge: the surcharge rule (section 4AB) was inserted by the Finance Act 2024. The two reports differ on one fixed amount for the slab from Rs 3,600,000 to Rs 6,000,000. This page uses Rs 435,000, which is Rs 165,000 plus 22.5% of the Rs 1,200,000 width of the slab below it; the other figure, Rs 405,000, does not follow from that arithmetic.
| Taxable income | Tax |
|---|---|
| Up to Rs 600,000 | No tax |
| Rs 600,001 to Rs 1,200,000 | 2.5% of the amount above Rs 600,000 |
| Rs 1,200,001 to Rs 2,400,000 | Rs 15,000 plus 12.5% of the amount above Rs 1,200,000 |
| Rs 2,400,001 to Rs 3,600,000 | Rs 165,000 plus 22.5% of the amount above Rs 2,400,000 |
| Rs 3,600,001 to Rs 6,000,000 | Rs 435,000 plus 27.5% of the amount above Rs 3,600,000 |
| Above Rs 6,000,000 | Rs 1,095,000 plus 35% of the amount above Rs 6,000,000 |
How the calculator works
- It takes your monthly or annual taxable salary and converts it to an annual figure (monthly pay multiplied by 12).
- It finds the slab the annual figure falls in, and adds the fixed amount for that slab to the slab's rate applied to the income above its lower limit.
- If the tax year has a surcharge and taxable income is above Rs 10 million, it adds the surcharge as a percentage of the income tax.
- It divides the yearly total by 12 for the monthly figure, and shows the working slab by slab.
Who these slabs apply to
The salaried-individual table applies to people whose salary is at least 75% of their taxable income. Individuals who earn most of their income from a business or other sources are taxed under a separate, higher table. This calculator covers only the salaried table.
It also leaves out things that change a real tax bill: income from other sources, tax credits and rebates, and taxes other than income tax. Treat the result as an estimate and check it against your payslip and your return.
