BLA Claims 28 Operations Across Balochistan in a Single Week

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist militant group, said it carried out 28 separate operations across a dozen Balochistan districts between September 1 and 7, 2026 — one of the more intensive single-week campaigns the group has publicized in recent memory.

The scale of what was claimed

According to the BLA's own account, its fighters struck checkpoints and vehicles, seized weapons and military equipment, and damaged military and commercial infrastructure across districts including Pasni, Kharan, Kalat, Turbat, Mastung, Surab, Tump, Pishin, Jhal Magsi, Noshki, Chagai, and Quetta. Operations reportedly began on September 1 at Zero Point in Pasni, Gwadar, where fighters attacked a joint police and Levies post alongside checkpoints belonging to Customs and the Coastal Police.

The most significant single incident claimed was an ambush by the BLA's "Fateh Squad" on a Frontier Corps (FC) convoy at Ziarat Cross, which the group said killed 18 soldiers and destroyed two vehicles. The BLA also acknowledged losing 12 of its own fighters during clashes with Pakistani forces over the same period.

A separate security-force operation the same week

In a distinct incident during the same period, Pakistani security forces conducted an operation in Kalat that killed five militants and rescued 23 hostages, after authorities said an armed group had set up an illegal checkpoint to abduct civilians, extort money, and seize vehicles. Why the scale of these claims matters — and their limits

Militant groups have an obvious incentive to publicize operations in the most favorable light possible, and casualty figures from an active conflict zone — whether from the BLA or from state security forces — are difficult to independently verify in real time. What's less disputable is that the sheer geographic spread of a single week's claimed operations, across a dozen districts, illustrates the scale and persistence of the insurgency Pakistani security forces are contending with in Balochistan, distinct from the province's separate civil-rights and political disputes.
